Niall Williams was born in 1958 and has settled in Kiltumper, Co. Clare, with his wife, Christine, and their two children.
He is best-known as a novelist and has written three acclaimed novels, ‘Four Letters of Love’ (1997), ‘As it is in Heaven’ (1999) and ‘The Fall of Light’ (2001). One reviewer in ‘The Guardian’ declared that ‘Niall Williams writes like an angel’.
‘The New Statesman’ reviewer wrote: ‘His brand of magic realism has invited inevitable comparisons with Gabriel Garcia Marquez, but the enchanting otherworldliness of his rural Gaelic communities chimes more strongly with Bruce Chatwin’s ‘On the Black Hill’,’
‘The Way You Look Tonight’ was commissioned by Druid Theatre Company, who mounted a production of it in the Druid Lane Theatre, Galway. It was first performed there on December 10th, 1998.
